Rafael sells chicles (gum) to folks in Zona Norte. He worked for many years as a car mechanic on electrical systems but was in a car wreck and was hurt so badly, he can no longer work and bend like he used to.
Juan aka Johnny is one of many shoeshine guys working in Zona Norte. He has been doing this for about 20 years after being deported from the United States.  He is considered one of the best shoeshine guys around. He is also a musician and plays harmonica.
Angel works as a parking lot attendant for the Hong Kong group (they own several large bars in Zona Norte). He keeps an eye on the cars and will drive customers in the golf cart up to the clubs, even though it is less than half a block away. He works the graveyard shift these days and makes about $100USD/week, plus tips.
While you can park on the street for free around Zona Norte, it is best to use a pay lot.  There are many of them around and they often have a bathroom you can use.  To park for 8 hours on a weekend, rates range from $3 - $6USD.
