Ashley
Ashley is from San Diego but moved to Tijuana several years ago because she says, "I love Mexican dick!" She works as a prostitute and struggles with addiction to alcohol, gambling, and crystal meth, which is called a globo (Spanish for balloon - the dealers package it in tiny little balloons). I first photographed her in the winter when she stopped me to ask if I would take her photograph because she didn't have any photographs of herself and wanted to make sure she had at least one photo in case she died. She is vivacious and funny and bilingual. On Saturday, March 11, 2017, Ashley was shot and killed in her apartment along with five other people.
